My name is Kate Stout, and I’ve been interested in history for as long as I can remember. Hence the name of my blog, History Maven.
I’m in my 50’s and live in the Silicon Valley area of California. I grew up and spent most of my life in Massachusetts, which has a lot of interesting history. I’m starting to learn more about California’s interesting history.
I’m particularly interest in English history, and as an undergraduate did studies in medieval and renaissance history. But my interests are every expanding, so I’ve read extensively in American, Russian and French history.
I have an autoimmune disease called Sjogren’s Syndrome. I plan to write about how that is changing my life, as I go on the journey to learn how to live a new life with this issue.
Until recently, I was involved in the software industry, as a systems analyst, program manager, and architect of complex distributed systems, working for companies such as Amazon.com and Sun Microsystems. I miss the excitement of creating new and interesting computer systems.
